Brain damage and Seizure activities.
I used to be told that you cant get brain damage from a seizure at least not a short one the longer they are of course the worse things get. I never really thought of it much but if you dont breath for long points of time I understand why you would have brain damage but I never thought about everything else that happens to the brain while in a seizure.
New studies of course prove what I myself have learned all along that any type of seizure activity can create brain damage and as we have seen first had with Matt it does.
Yes Matt used to be able to do a lot more then he can now and some days Matt is able to do a lot and other days he can not do much of anything at all or very little.
Yes Brain damage does happen with epilepsy, yes it does come with seizure activity, yes it effects everyone differently.
Can anything help? I know that studies on Cannabis shows improvement in memories loss and other brain issues but I am not sure if it helps with brain damage fully I guess with out more study we will never know.
All I do know for now is that I am here full time to help my son.
There is so much more to This illness then anyone understand including the doctors and scientists, researchers, patents and parents. So much to this illness, so many things I was not told, so many things I was not aware of even though I did my research so many things that can and do happen, so many things and they are still learning more and more.
And still they are no closer to finding a cure or a real viable treatment that works, not everything works for everyone and yes it seems everything we have done is totally against the health thoughts of the doctors.
Brain damage does happen and has happened many times and yes my son has been affected and sometimes worse then others. this is a dangerous illness in so many ways causing sometimes more and more damage.
The more research I do the harder it gets sometimes especially after a bad experience like this past week, how much can his brain take? how much can his body take? How much can he take? Yes we have been so lucky to have him almost seizure free many times we have never had him 100% seizure free and so damage continues.
As he wakes up every morning I become grateful can he speak I dont know but he is awake and alive and today I have another day with my son. Thank you for this day.
It isnt easy with all we have to go through but if I remind myself to become happy, grateful and joyful for all I do have I make this day that we have so much more fun.
