Irritability following a seizure

Irritability following a seizure, this happens a lot with a grand mal or tonic clonic, it happens right after he wakes up or shortly after and last for a few day some times it is worse then others but this is usually the norm for him.

Not all seizures create this for him although some do create emotional responses fear is one of the main ones after an absent or a drop seizure but for grand mals if he doesn't come out of it in a good mood, zombie state or "normal Matt" then he usually comes out irritable and it can last for days.

So how can we help someone who is irritable and not take it personally?

This took me a while to realize that his irritability was caused by the seizures, that is obsession for staying irritable was caused by his seizure and it to me awhile to realize that he may not have any control over it.

However I still came up with some ways to help us all deal with anyone who is irritable rule one is spend time away from others and try to find something fun to do, if you cant then just spend time in your room. This rule goes for everyone in the house.

It isn't easy to figure out why you are irritable for many of us who are not aware of our own thoughts, so it is really difficult for someone like Matt who sometimes due to a seizure has extra stuff happening to the brain, but we always try to help him out and not take him personally when he is irritable and maybe just maybe he will end up with a smile.
