Gluten free helps Matt

We found so many years ago that eating healthy helped Matt with his seizures A LOT. At first we had him on a low carb diet and it was such an amazing change for him he ate mostly high protein and very little junk food. It cut his seizures in half, maybe even more then half.

He was doing amazing on this how ever if you have ever been on low carb you know that it really helps with loosing weight which at first wasn't a bad thing because he was a little over weight when we began. Then we changed his pharmaceutical medication for his seizures to one that one of the side effects is weight lose, this as well as his thyroid medication being to high made him loss even more weight and fast, we needed to switch his diet to something that would help him gain weight back.

So we played around with some other ones like paleo diet and now gluten free, they have all help Matt with his seizures and his body, the gluten free is a little more easier to manage and care for, it is easier to cook him meals and no worry about counting his carbs for the day, it is easier to find something he can eat at a restaurant when we go out for a meal and it is a little easier to find him snack food to eat.

Gluten free helps Matt gain weight, slowly but he is gaining with the pills and his thyroid it still is difficult to gain it back fast but he is beginning to gain it back and come to a comfortable weight.

Gluten free also doesn't create any extra seizures and this is what we were looking for something that will help him gain weight but not increase his seizure activity and with gluten free we are finally seeing this happen.

Gluten free has come a long way there are many foods that are gluten free that taste amazing and with a specialty store down the road it is always easy to buy him some special foods like cakes and cupcakes, pizza crust and spaghetti noodles, but most of the grocery stories carry a section now of all gluten free so it is so wonderful.

Eating healthier and staying away from food made with wheat, barley and rye have been really good for more, adding more veggies, grains and rice have helped him out a lot.
