Thanksgiving come and gone
This morning Matthew said to me "I really miss Thanksgiving." I respond "You miss it all ready?" Matt replys "Yes" I smile at him half joking but knowing it is true "You miss all that food right?" Matt smiles and shyly says "Yes"
For someone with a disorder like Matt Holidays are his favouret time not because he gets to be around all his family and have fun but because going to Grandmas means food and lots of it.
This year he had 3 plates of Turkey, Ham, mashed potatoes, and some veggies and then a little desert or yea and lets not forget the salad all was mostly low carb and gluten free.
Matt would eat him self into being ill and yes has done it before he does not know when is enough which is way I need to keep an eye on what he is eating and how much of it not just to make sure it is something he is allowed but also so I can make sure he doesnt over eat.
There are many eating disorders and this Matts although if you looked at him you would never know that over eating is a disorder because of his other conditions and medication he looses lots of his wieght.
I am not really sure how or why Matt feels the importants to eat all the time and so much he just always has wanted to eat, he as we used to say has a healthy appitite and it just grew to not knowing when was enough.
It isnt always like this and as with the rest of life with Matt it does change from time to time and he finds his balance and knows his limit but when he doesnt he can count on me to help him out.
Sometimes we all need someone.
I am thankful I am Matts
